A SEATED BRONZE LAMA TIBET 16TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 10 cm Wide 8 cm Depth 5,5 cm Weight: 427 grams A compact bronze figure of a seated lama on a beaded lotus pedestal. The teacher wears close-fitting monastic robes, one arm resting toward the knee while the other is drawn inward across the lap. His rounded face, closely modelled hair and quietly balanced posture contrast with the pronounced bead-like forms around the base. The dark surface is enlivened by golden highlights on the raised details. Such images place emphasis on the physical presence of a spiritual teacher rather than on elaborate narrative attributes. The seated pose suggests discipline and contemplation, while the ornamented throne gives the modestly scaled figure a formal setting.
