A LIAO DYNASTY CARVING DEPICTING GARUDA Dimensions: Height 4,5 cm Wide 4 cm Depth 4,5 cm Weight: 65 grams A pale carved figure combines an animal-like head with broad, feathered wings and a compact, crouching body. The large circular eyes, pronounced beak-like mouth and raised hands create a vivid, animated expression, while a curling element rises behind the shoulders. The figure stands upon a small ornamental base with scrolling relief, its polished surface showing subtle variations of cream and beige. What is immediately apparent is the imaginative union of avian and human features, conveyed through rounded volumes, incised feather patterns and a lively frontal pose.
