(R) A DING-SONG-DRUM, BRONZE, VIETNAM, 2ND CENTURY BC TO 2ND CENTURY AD Dimensions: Height 15 cm Wide 20 cm Depth 20 cm Weight: 1677 grams A squat bronze drum has a broad, flat circular top and a gently tapering cylindrical body, with small loop handles projecting from opposite sides near the upper edge. Narrow decorative bands encircle the rim and shoulder, while faint linear ornament and areas of green oxidation animate the lower body. The weathered surface softens the details without obscuring the robust architectural form. Bronze drums have a long history across mainland Southeast Asia, serving as valued objects in ceremonial and communal settings. The circular top and carefully cast ornament lend the drum an impressive ceremonial presence. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
