(R) A CHINESE PURPLE-GLAZED PORCELAINE PLATE, QINGY DYNASTY Dimensions: Height 4,3 cm Diameter 22 cm Weight: 506 grams A Chinese Qing-dynasty porcelain plate covered with a luminous purple glaze of remarkable tonal variety. The broad circular well reveals rich aubergine, violet and blue-lavender hues, with colour gathering towards the centre and lightening subtly around the rounded rim. Rather than relying on painted motifs, the plate derives its decorative impact from the depth and movement of its monochrome glaze. The white-glazed underside bears a Kangxi six-character reign mark within a double circle. Chinese monochrome porcelain of the Qing dynasty is especially admired for its complex firing effects and refined surface qualities. This plate offers an elegant study in colour, glaze and form. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
