BRONZE HEAD OF A BUDDHA TIBET 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 11 cm Wide 9 cm Depth 6 cm without base Weight: 735 grams with base A nineteenth-century Tibetan bronze head of a Buddha, displayed on a fitted dark stand. The finely modelled face is characterised by gently lowered eyes, a small urna and softly curved lips that impart a meditative expression. Above the serene features rises an exceptionally ornate tiered crown with scrolling details, projecting elements and pendant ornaments framing the cheeks. The deep brown surface, relieved by lighter wear across the raised contours, heightens the contrast between the delicate facial modelling and richly worked headdress. With its elegant proportions and refined metalwork, this Himalayan Buddhist bronze head makes an evocative and highly decorative sculpture.
