A SEATED BRONZE JAMBHALA TIBET 1950'S Dimensions: Height 20 cm Wide 15 cm Depth 11 cm Weight: 841 grams A seated, richly adorned figure depicting Jambhala, shown with one leg drawn across a lotus pedestal and the other resting in a relaxed position. The rounded torso is crossed by necklaces and ornamental bands, while large earrings and an elaborate crown frame the softly modelled face. Warm metallic highlights emerge from the darker surface, particularly across the jewellery, knees and tiered base. Jambhala belongs to the Buddhist imagery of abundance and generosity, in which a prosperous, ornamented appearance expresses the deity's beneficent powers. The figure's compact seated pose contrasts with the elaborate crown and jewellery, producing a sculpture that feels both stable and animated. The finely differentiated details of the pedestal and ornaments reward close viewing.
