BRONZE BELL WITH GARUDA NEPAL 18TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 27 cm Wide 9,5 cm Depth 9,5 cm Weight: 857 grams A tall bronze ritual bell with a gently flared mouth, concentric bands around the lower body and a narrow, spirally fluted stem. Its most elaborate feature is the sculptural finial: three small figures stand before a radiating, feather-like crest, the central figure raising the hands in a gesture of reverence. Their animated silhouettes form a lively contrast with the restrained geometry of the bell below. The metal has a warm golden-brown tone, with small areas of greenish oxidation around the figures and in the recesses of the handle. Bells occupy an active role in Himalayan ritual, their ringing marking offerings, prayer and the transition into sacred attention.
