STANDING BRONZE VAJRAPANI TIBET 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 23 cm Wide 16 cm Depth 10 cm Weight: 1737 grams A nineteenth-century Tibetan bronze figure of Vajrapani standing in a forceful, dynamic posture above a carefully modelled lotus base. The powerful Buddhist protector is richly adorned with an elaborate crown, necklaces, bracelets and flowing scarves, the raised arms and animated stance conveying intense spiritual energy. Finely cast jewellery and garments provide lively detail against the warm brown bronze, which retains darker patination in its recesses. Vajrapani, whose name means 'holder of the vajra', personifies the strength and protective power of enlightened wisdom. This expressive Himalayan bronze combines fierce iconography with decorative sophistication and a commanding, sharply defined silhouette.
