SEATED BRONZE GODESS TIBET 18TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 6cm Wide 4 cm Depth 3 cm Weight: 76 grams A finely worked miniature bronze of a crowned female deity seated cross-legged upon a double-lotus base. Her hair and earrings frame a composed face, while necklaces and small pendants are carefully picked out across the torso. The hands meet before the chest around a small central object, and a long staff-like attribute rises diagonally beside one shoulder. Golden-brown highlights catch the projecting details against a darker, worn surface. The lotus throne, elaborate ornaments and ritual attributes belong to the iconographic world of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism, in which female figures may embody wisdom, compassion or protective power. This tiny bronze achieves an impressive sense of ceremony through the intricate handling of its crown, jewellery and carefully balanced pose.
