(R) A PAIR OF BRONZE FITTINGS WITH TAOTIE MASKS, CHINA, WARRING STATES PERIOD, 4TH TO 3RD CENTURY BC Dimensions: Height 8 cm Wide 5 cm Depth 3 cm Weight: 151 grams both A pair of small bronze fittings cast with prominent taotie-style masks and circular suspension rings. Each fitting combines a compact animal-mask terminal with a broad loop below, the surfaces retaining green and brown oxidation that settles deeply around the relief details. Masked fittings of this type belonged to a long tradition of bronze hardware in which practical attachment points were transformed into powerful zoomorphic ornament. The present pair is especially effective as a matched set, with the repeated mask-and-ring construction giving the objects a strong rhythmic symmetry. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
