(R) A DEEP PORCELAIN BOWL, BRICK RED, CHINA 1800 Dimensions: Height 5,5 cm Diameter 12 cm Weight: 147 grams A deep porcelain bowl with rounded sides rising from a short foot to a gently flaring rim, covered inside and out with a warm brick-red glaze. Slight tonal variation across the monochrome surface gives the otherwise restrained vessel subtle visual depth, while the foot ring is left unglazed to reveal the pale porcelain body. Chinese monochrome ceramics place particular emphasis on the relationship between proportion, glaze colour and surface. The simplicity of this bowl directs attention to those qualities, continuing a long tradition in which controlled single-colour glazes were appreciated for nuance and texture. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
