26 - DOUCAI PORCELAIN DISPLAY PLATE WITH FLORAL MEDALLION, QIANLONG PERIOD

DOUCAI PORCELAIN DISPLAY PLATE WITH FLORAL MEDALLION, QIANLONG PERIOD Dimensions: Height 2,5 cm Wide 14,7 cm Depth 14,7 cm Weight: 158 grams A shallow porcelain display plate decorated in the doucai manner with a central floral medallion. Peonies and other blossoms unfold among scrolling leafy stems in soft coloured enamels and underglaze blue, all enclosed by a narrow iron-red ring. The broad white cavetto is deliberately left undecorated, while a fine red line defines the rim. Its refinement lies in the contrast between the concentrated central ornament and the generous surrounding white space, allowing the small-scale enamel work to remain crisp and legible. The balanced palette and precise potting give the piece a restrained courtly appearance.
