(R) A MONOCHROME COBALT-BLUE DOUBLE GOURD VASE, CHINA, QING DYNASTY WITH QIANLONG Dimensions: Height 42 cm Wide 23 cm Depth 23 cm Weight: 2980 grams A Chinese porcelain double-gourd vase covered overall in a rich cobalt-blue monochrome glaze. The lower bulb is generously rounded and rises through a narrow waist to a smaller upper bulb, terminating in a slender neck with an everted rim. The glossy glaze pools subtly around the transitions of the form, emphasizing the sculptural clarity of the silhouette. The double gourd, derived from the natural calabash, carries long-standing associations in Chinese culture with longevity, abundance and Daoist immortals. Monochrome glazes of deep cobalt blue were particularly admired in the Qing dynasty for the purity of colour and the technical control required to achieve an even, lustrous surface over a complex profile. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
