Delicate geometric borders, lotus-petal forms and small surrounding figures create an intricate structure, while further deities and architectural motifs populate the upper and lower fields. The painting is set within a broad patterned textile surround, whose dark floral design contrasts with the more delicate colours of the painted centre. In Tibetan Buddhist visual culture, mandalas offer ordered representations of sacred space, bringing deities, directional gateways and symbolic geometry into a single contemplative composition.
