Japan, Meiji-Taishō era Ikebana basket (hanakago) made of weathered woven bamboo, baluster-shaped with a flared base; the handle consists of a bundle of gnarled bamboo roots, some of whose stems encircle the body of the basket. Includes an inner bamboo container (otoshi); height 61 cm.
