Wooden Lobi Statue, Burkina Faso A superb Lobi statuette characteristic of the Mbala region’s style. The fullness of the forms and the tension of the volumes, the hieratic posture, and the meticulous attention to the facial features clearly indicate the Thinkiero style, identified by Daniela Bognolo and founded by the Lobi sculptor Karinthé Kambiré (1850–1910). The deep patina and numerous signs of wear, evidence of prolonged use in situ, further attest to the great age of this sculpture. H. 22 cm - (feet missing)
