PHOTOGRAPHY. "The Memory of Scorpions" Christian BRUEL, photographs by Xavier LAMBOURS Gallimard, “Le sourire qui mord” collection Number of pages not collated Note: Halfway between a detective novel and a graphic novel, *La Mémoire des Scorpions* is a photo-novel combining text by Christian Bruel and staged photographs by Xavier Lambours. Playing with the conventions of film noir, suspense, and expressionist cinema, the book weaves a plot in which photography becomes a true narrative tool. The highly theatrical black-and-white images lend the story a mysterious, cinematic atmosphere, making this book a striking example of the revival of the photo-novel in France.
