16 - Georges Bru (1933–2023)

Georges Bru (1933–2023) Tablecloth Graphite on paper, signed lower right, dated on the back; 18 x 25 cm Condition Report: Framed His work as a drawing instructor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulon, until 1993, attests to his mastery of drawing; his body of work reveals the full subtlety of his line, chiaroscuro, and blended shading. His quiet compositions are imbued with an atmosphere that is at once subdued, unsettling, and muted. His figures and animals, as if suspended on the surface of the paper, lend his work a surrealist dimension.
