A TIBETAN BUDDHIST THANGKA Tibet or Nepal, polychrome and gold leaf painted on a black ground an elaborate circular mandala containing numerous seated Buddhist deities and Bodhisattvas arranged around a central lotus, surrounded by concentric geometric and architectural registers, with further celestial figures, wrathful protective deities, stylised clouds and temple structures, the upper section featuring an eleven-headed representation of Avalokiteshvara, framed and glazed.
