Alexis BRUCHON (born in 1987) 11 drawings on the theme of the months of the year, 2023 Mixed media on paper All signed in the lower right corner and titled/dated on the back 32 x 24 cm (Small spots) Description: Alexis Bruchon, born in 1987 in Clermont-Ferrand, studied art history and graphic design in Lyon before establishing himself as a self-taught illustrator. He says he draws inspiration from the volcanoes of Auvergne, as well as from Art Deco, Japonism, Gothic art, and the decorative arts of the Arab world. His work, executed by hand with a minimalist set of tools, is distinguished by its fine detail and flat compositions—without vanishing points—inherited from the Japanese woodblock prints of Hiroshige. It also reflects the refinement of Art Deco illustrators such as Georges Barbier, George Lepape, and Pierre Brissaud. A contributor to *House & Garden* and the London-based firm Swaine, and the director of two feature films, he has exhibited in New York at the Philippe Labaune Gallery, alongside Lorenzo Mattotti and Guy Billout, and in Paris, where his exhibition “Bon Voyage” was presented in 2024. This series of eleven drawings dedicated to the months of the year clearly demonstrates his penchant for narrative series and seasonal variations.
