Henri SOUFFLOT Silver set (950/1000) with a monogrammed “uniplat” design, consisting of 12 spoons and 12 forks. Total net weight: 1,990 g. (Signs of wear) Description: Henri Soufflot was a silversmith in Paris, at 89 Rue de Turbigo. He succeeded Henri Chenailler there and had his master’s hallmark engraved in April 1884: a rising sun above a star, accompanied by the initials HS. The firm, which became Henri Soufflot & Cie and operated a factory on rue Michel-Bizot, produced table silverware, cutlery, and toiletries. It also manufactured designs by other makers, including Cottat, Lenain, and Ferry. In 1910, the business was acquired by E. Caron, who soon partnered with G. Olier under the name Olier & Caron. The “méplat” model, featuring a flat spatula, is one of the great classics of French cutlery. It can be found among most Parisian silversmiths of the same generation: Puiforcat, Boulenger, Cardeilhac, Tétard Frères, and even Christofle, for both silver and silver plated items.
