Affiche Ancienne Original vintage Dutch political propaganda poster - Nederlanders in 1980 / Netherlands in 1980 - designed by artist Willem Abraham de Wijn (1902-1983) and published shortly after World War Two by the Nederlandsch Comite voor Gebiedsuitbreiding / Dutch Committee for Territorial Expansion. The top of the poster depicts a bleak future of Dutch citizens as impoverished refugees; the text warns that without more land to rebuild the economy, Dutch children in 1980 would face starvation and be driven from their homeland. The large arrow on the map points at the German territory marked in red and reads - Eisch Duitschen grond! Ons recht en onze redding / Demand German land! Our right and our salvation. The Dutch Committee for Territorial Expansion envisioned pushing the Dutch border deep into Germany to absorb multiple cities. Still, the Allied forces heavily scaled back these demands, granting about 69 square kilometres of German territory, most of which was sold back to West Germany in 1963. Printed by Luii & Co in Amsterdam. Horizontal. Fair condition, folds, tears, creasing, staining, tape marks, paper losses, browning. Country of issue: Netherlands, designer: Willem Abraham de Wijn, size (cm): 80x110, year of printing: 1945.
