Adam von Bartsch (1757 – Vienna – 1821), Rest in the Fields. Hand-colored etching after Wilhelm von Kobell on wove paper. (1800/1802). 37.2 x 46.6 cm (sheet). A fine and richly colored impression, printed evenly with delicately nuanced tones. The carefully modulated coloring lends the composition a pleasing sense of depth and liveliness, based on the watercolor of the same title (Wichmann 544), depicting peasants and children in the traditional costume of the Amper region. Trimmed within the platemark on three sides. The sheet shows light age-related staining. A few small spots and areas of paper thinning on the reverse. Otherwise in good condition. Taxation: subject to differential taxation (VAT: Margin Scheme).
