Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841, Limoges – Cagnes-sur-Mer, 1919), *Femme nue couchée (tournée à droite)*, 1st plate. Etching on wove paper. (1906). 24.8 x 32.2 cm (sheet). With the artist’s signature stamp (Lugt 237a) in the lower right corner. Delteil 13 II (of II); Stella 13 II (of II). A very fine, clearly defined impression of the second state. This etching belongs to Renoir’s early graphic oeuvre and reflects his sustained interest in the female nude. Dating from a period in which the artist was exploring the possibilities of etching as an independent means of artistic expression, the work reveals his growing engagement with the medium. – The margins show very slight signs of age. Otherwise in good condition. Taxation: subject to differential taxation (VAT: Margin Scheme).
