Etching on laid paper, watermark: fragment of a single-headed eagle (1637). 9.6 x 8.3 cm (plate), 12.2 x 10.9 cm (sheet). A very fine, crisp, and early impression of New Hollstein’s only state, with tiny traces of burr on the nose and strong contrasts. All the fine lines in the beard and face are clearly printed, with little to no sign of wear and partially inky plate edges—characteristic of the earliest impressions of this subject.
