CELINE, Louis-Ferdinand: Albert SEROUILLE: Bezons Through the Ages. Denoël, Paris, 1944. First edition. A rare copy belonging to Céline’s attorney, Maître André Damien, who bound a long handwritten letter from Céline into it—written from Denmark and discussing this book. In the margin of the preface is a bookmark in the hand of Lucette Destouches, who gave this copy to Damien so he could annotate the writer’s defense against his accusers. The volume is bound in 12mo red chagrin, with a spine featuring five raised bands; the provenance is inscribed on the front cover, and it comes with a slipcase and dust jacket (binding by Faki).
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
