HERMES Paris - Atelier Georges LENFANT, 1960s–1970s Domed “Sea Urchin” brooch in 750‰ yellow gold, with each spine chiseled and textured. Pins in 750‰ rose gold. Signed “HERMES PARIS” and numbered “60997.” Made in France; diamond-shaped hallmark of the Georges LENFANT Workshop. Diameter: 2.9 cm. Weight: 21.1 g. (Slight distortions and oxidation). The Georges LENFANT workshop maintained particularly strong ties with the House of Hermès and its worlds. Animal-themed creations are particularly numerous, often taking the form of brooches: bumblebees, fawns, does, woodcocks, ducks, pheasants, squirrels, feathers, and even sea urchins have been depicted in this way.
