The House of Buccellati has built its reputation in particular on its mastery of jewelry craftsmanship and, more specifically, on its work with engraving and the textures of precious metals. The “segrinato” technique, in particular, is an engraving method developed by the House as early as the 1930s and 1940s. It involves using a chisel to engrave intersecting and overlapping lines in various directions, giving the finished piece a velvety, silky appearance. It has been used in silverware and jewelry, particularly for naturalistic motifs.
