Georges LENFANT Workshop, 1930s–1940s A 750‰ yellow and white gold bracelet composed of articulated rectangular links forming geometric patterns, some set with onyx plates, punctuated by four zoned agate beads. Ratchet clasp concealed within one of the agate beads and a safety hook. Made in France, with the Atelier Georges LENFANT diamond-shaped hallmark. Diameters of the agate beads: 1.4, 1.5, 1.7 cm. Length: 20 cm. Gross weight: 51.7 g. (Small chips on the onyx). In the 1930s, the Atelier Georges Lenfant combined its geometric links with precious and decorative stones (amethyst, carnelian, chrysoprase, onyx, etc.) and offered them to the leading jewelry houses of the time, notably Lacloche Frères. Our bracelet is particularly original, both in the design of the articulated links—richly and meticulously crafted with onyx inlays—and in the use of decorative stones shaped into beads, highlighting their natural color variations. Our bracelet highlights the creative drive of this workshop, a master chainmaker and creator of avant-garde designs throughout every era of its production. The modernist spirit of the Lenfant workshop in the 1920s and 1930s likely stemmed from the influence of other brilliant designers, such as Gérard Sandoz, who commissioned pieces from the workshop and entrusted it with the creation of innovative designs. In 1927, Gustave-Roger Sandoz sold his company to Atelier Lenfant.
