PABLO RUÍZ PICASSO (Málaga, 1881 – Mougins, 1973) "SCARF FOR THE WORLD FESTIVAL OF YOUTH AND STUDENTS FOR PEACE" (1951) Hand-screen-printed textile on fine cotton A textile work designed by Picasso in 1951 for the Third World Festival of Youth and Students, held in East Berlin from August 5 to 19, 1951. Its design is based on Picasso’s “The Four Faces” (Les quatre visages): in the center is the dove of peace—a symbol Picasso had created and popularized after World War II—surrounded by four faces representing the unity of the peoples of the world. A border runs around the entire scarf bearing the inscription: “Festival mondial de la Jeunesse et des Étudiants pour la Paix. Berlin 5.19. August 1951.” Stamped “Picasso” in the lower left corner. It shows some signs of soiling due to age. Dimensions: 81x78 cm
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
