"Grande Sonnerie" clock with Martin lacquer and gilded bronze mount by Robert & Courvoisier A Swiss ormolu-mounted and japanned (Martin lacquer) Grande Sonnerie Cartel clock by Robert & Courvoisier Robert & Courvoisier The case is topped by an urn-shaped finial above a stepped top with gilt mounts throughout; the main case is decorated with painted detailing and side observation windows. The 8-inch white enamel dial features black Roman numerals and Arabic five-minute markers, along with a blued steel alarm-setting hand and gilt brass hour and minute hands, signed in a central cartouche: Robert & Courvoisier; the twin-train movement, with external striking mechanism mounted to the backplate, features a verge escapement and an alarm mounted on the right-hand side that strikes a pair of bells above; currently ticking and striking. 58 cm high, 33 cm wide, 10 cm deep.
