169 - Senior officer’s sword, chiseled and gilded brass guard, pommel adorned with a shield bearing the crowned coat of arms of France, surrounded by two laurel branches; possibly an officer of the King’s Gendarmerie, pommel shaped like a heraldic helmet, viewed from the front; ferrule and tang of the tang section adorned with fleurs-de-lis; tang section featuring two fluted mother-of-pearl plates; triangular blade, gilded and blued one-third of the way up; leather scabbard with two chiseled and gilded brass fittings; length 100 cm. (Leather is worn; a piece is missing from the lower part).
