In 8vo contemporary paper cover, otherwise complete 353p., few scattered spots in very few pages, text clean and bright, overall in very good condition. Victor Guerin (1821-1891), a French explorer and archaeologist with the financial help of Albert de Luynes was able to make several trips to Greece and the Levant. He had visited Rhodes in 1853 and stayed for four months. He extensively visited the countryside and provided detailed accounts on a village by village basis. One of the very first detailed scientific travel accounts on Rhodos island. Rare References: Not in Atabey or Blackmer
