[1880?]), overall in mind condition. THE RAREST PIECE OF THE 19TH CENTURY CYPRIOT BIBLIOGRAPHY. Jules Raoul de Casenove (1833-1910) was a French scholar, art critic and historian. The transfer of the island of Cyprus to the British in 1878 fuelled the interest all around Europe to the island that period. French, who had traditionally old links with the area since the medieval times, were particularly concerned. The notes on the island of Cyprus, memories and impressions of a voyage, is a scholar's account on the island in the aftermath of the arrival of the British. It is a landmark publication for Cyprus and the extremely small print run makes it almost completely unobtainable.
