VERY FINE, LARGE, AND ANTIQUE TEKKE BUKHARA RUG (Turkmen, late 19th–early 20th century) Wine-colored field decorated with eight rows of three guhls (geometrically stylized elephant feet) surrounded by rows of guhls in the shape of stylized diamonds. Border decorated with a mosaic of tarantulas and small stylized crabs. Wool pile on a wool foundation. Beautiful, silky wool pile of remarkable fineness. (Good overall condition, with some restoration in the end kilims.)
