Rare flintlock pistol with a bronze barrel from a "packet ship," with a pommel engraved “GenL Post Office,” a side belt hook, and a lock signed H. Nock (Henry Nock, a London gunsmith who died in 1804); length: approximately 39 cm. British craftsmanship. This type of pistol (rarer than those intended for land-based mail transport) was used aboard the “Falmouth Packet Ships,” which carried mail and orders by sea to the nascent British Empire.
