A strong contrast between the dark, earthly lower part and the lighter, more ethereal, more spiritual upper part of the composition. The angels seem to float in a different dimension from the humans. An artist in the circle of Gustave Moreau, Théodore Chassériau, Pierre Puis de Chavannes and Luc-Olivier Merson... Certainly a project for a church décor.
