From the collection of Johanna von Wekbeker (1851-1918); has since remained in the family through inheritance The large-format version of this painting is today in the Museum Catharijnenconvent, Utrecht. There must have been a slightly different variant of this, however, which has been passed down through a copper engraving by Cornelis Danckerts (1604-1656) and which the present painting follows.
