In 1907, he took over a jewellery shop in Bielefeld. In 1912, Feldmann met the Expressionist artist Peter August Böckstiegel. The two were bound by a close friendship for more than 30 years. Around 150 letters from Böckstiegel to Feldmann have survived. Böckstiegel commissioned jewellery from Feldmann for his wife and silver tableware, as well as gifts for relatives and friends. He often offered his own works in exchange. Through Böckstiegel, Feldmann also met his brother-in-law, Conrad Felixmüller, who depicted the Feldmann family and their jewellery in several paintings.
