Virgin and Child South German, circa 1520 H. 64 cm Limewood, carved with hollowed back, with a few traces of the original polychromy; later stained brown. Half-length figure with a crown and the Infant Jesus. Heavily damaged; the Madonna’s hands and one of the Child’s arms have probably been restored; the crown is partly reattached. The Child’s right hand is missing. A shrinkage crack has been chiselled out of the face.
