Paolo Scheggi, Untitled (Intersuperfici curve), signed multiple/collage from the 1960s Paolo Scheggi, 1940 Settignano - 1971 Rome, Constructivist painter. Shown here: Untitled, perforated multiple made of brown paper/collage, 31 x 30 cm, signed, numbered 191/200, without frame About the artist: Paolo Scheggi trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1960, he founded the art and literature magazine *Il malinteso*. In 1961, he moved to Milan, where he came into contact with the Milanese conceptual artists Agostino Bonalumi (1935-2013), Enrico Castellani and Dadamaino (1930-2004), and engaged with the Informel movement and the work of Lucio Fontana. In 1965, he held his first exhibitions of his objects in Milanese galleries. Scheggi’s monochrome yellow piece ‘Intersuperficie curva da giallo’ (1965) demonstrates the transformation of the panel painting into a picture-object. He cut circular holes in a geometric arrangement into the linen-covered panels, which he then mounted one behind the other. In 1966, he was represented at the 33rd Venice Biennale, where he exhibited four such objects (Intersuperfici curve) in white, yellow, red and blue. In Paris in 1966, he was represented with a work in the Constructivists’ section at the 21st Salon de Réalités Nouvelles at the Musée d’art moderne in Paris. In January 2013, the “Associazione Paolo Scheggi” was founded in Milan.
