Werner Lichtner-Aix, "Place de Boule", oil painting from 1976, framed Werner Lichtner-Aix, 1939 Berlin - 1987 Munich, German painter and graphic artist. His artistic work was significantly influenced by the landscape, light and colours of Provence in France; here: “Place de Boule” - boules players in a village square, oil on canvas, 33 x 40 cm, signed on the reverse, inscribed and dated 1976, with catalogue no. OE-76104, framedAbout the artist: In 1986, Werner Lichtner-Aix fell seriously ill; in 1987, aged just 48, he died. Prof. Dr Rainer Beck said at the funeral service: “Despite his early death, his work displays an unusual sense of coherence. In his art, he found a radiant centre. Reduced to the utmost elemental simplicity, the landscape radiates in a harmony of otherworldly light. It is as if, quite naturally, the viewer becomes part of this harmony and achieves oneness with the elements. His art always seeks the purity and untouched quality of a landscape or life situation - its essence, untouched by human hands.” In 1988, the monograph *Werner Lichtner-Aix* was published by Kunstverlag Weingarten, featuring the artist’s final work and a catalogue of his prints from 1984 to 1987.
