Ryszard Grodnicki, Landscape, large oil painting from 1986, framed Ryszard Grodnicki, *Born 1947 in Gdańsk, vast landscape with a hazy quality, reminiscent of William Turner, oil on canvas, 81 x 101 cm, signed, dated 1986, framed in a stretcher About the artist: From 1971 to 1976, he studied at the Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Sztuk Plastycznych in Gdańsk, now the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts. He studied in the class of the Polish painter Władysław Jackiewicz. He also engaged intensively with photography and film, was active in the student film club ‘Żak’ and was a member of the Gdańsk Photographic Society. From 1978, Grodnicki taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdańsk University of Technology in the fields of drawing, painting and sculpture. He began as an assistant and became a lecturer (adiunkt) in 1988. In 2000, he was awarded the degree of ‘doktora habilitowanego’, the Polish equivalent of a postdoctoral qualification. He retired from teaching in 2017. His work has been exhibited inter alia in Paris, Hamburg, Lyon, Gdańsk and Sopot.
