From 1948: member of the Free Artists’ Association of Darmstadt. From 1949, Griesbach worked as a painter, graphic artist and illustrator in Bensheim, Heppenheim (where he produced film posters) and Bremen. In 1953, he undertook a study trip inter alia to Paris, where he was influenced by fellow painters such as Otto Greis, Heinz Kreutz, Bernhard Schultze and Karl Otto Götz, and found his way to informal art. Well into the 1960s, he produced a large number of informal works: oil paintings, tempera works and ink drawings. Later, influences from Op Art also became apparent. He has been featured in numerous exhibitions, inter alia at Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt, the Bad. Kunstverein in KA, Studio 68 in MA, Orel in Russia and the Kunstverein in MA; with his graphic works, he follows in the tradition of 20th-century constructive art.
