Alexis MOSSA (1844–1926). Saint Isidore, Dead Olive Tree—1921. Watercolor on paper, numbered 6766 in the upper right corner, signed, dated, and titled on the reverse. Blue stamps reading “g. a. mossa” also on the reverse. H_15 cm W_11 cm We would like to thank Ms. Sylvie Lombart-Mossa, a descendant of the Mossa painters and President of the Association Symbolique Mossa, who has confirmed the authenticity of the watercolors depicting landscapes by Gustave-Adolphe Mossa and Alexis Mossa. The Association Symbolique Mossa aims to raise awareness of the Mossa painters and is committed to promoting the works of Alexis, whose 100th anniversary of his passing we will celebrate in 2027. Note: A leading figure in Côte d’Azur painting and a master of watercolor, Alexis Mossa (a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and former curator of the Nice Museum) skillfully captured the light and heritage of the landscapes of the County of Nice, Provençal markets, and Italy.
