Rabindranath Tagore Typed Letter Signed on a Musical Setting for 'Gitanjali' Bengali poet, playwright, philosopher, and author (1861-1941) who became the first non-European to win a Nobel Prize (Literature) in 1913. TLS, one page, 7 x 9, September 25, [1920]. Letter to Dr. Ludwig Rellssab, in full: "I thank you very much for sending me so kindly the charming setting to my 'Gitanjali' song. I have already had it played over and sung to me and I was very much pleased with its charming quality." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Written at a time when Rabindranath Tagore enjoyed an international reputation as one of the leading literary figures of his generation, the letter reflects the wide cultural reach of his poetry beyond India.
