[D. H. Lawrence] Film Treatment for Lady Chatterley's Lover Original "suggested film treatment" typescript for an adaptation of Lady Chatterley's Lover, 58 pages, 8.5 x 11, no date, housed within a cardstock binder, with a note affixed inside the front cover: "If this typescript is not used for the movie, please send it back to the owner, Mrs. Frieda Lawrence, El Prado, N. Mex." Inside is a formal typescript introduction to the treatment, which distinguishes itself by identifying the gamekeeper character as "Oliver Parkin"—a key detail confirming this document is based on the early 1926-1927 draft of the novel. This treatment offers a profound, period-specific look at how the author’s estate attempted to adapt the work during an era when the novel was heavily censored and restricted in many parts of the world. Of critical importance is the accompanying note, tying the document directly to the residence and management efforts of D.H. Lawrence’s widow following his death in 1930. The piece thus represents a link to the stewardship of Lawrence’s literary legacy. In very good to fine condition, with tears to the binding holes of the first page.
