ALS in German, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, no date. Handwritten letter to the Austrian writer Clara Pollaczek, best remembered as the partner of Arthur Schnitzler. In part: "I am already committed for this evening—please don't be upset that I cannot accept your kind invitation. I kindly ask for your understanding! I seem to have bad luck, as I see it, and you will not invite me anymore! Please forgive me. Wishing you pleasant holidays." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original envelope, addressed in Klimt's own hand. A scarce and desirable letter linking Klimt to the vibrant cultural and artistic circles of early 20th-century Vienna.
