John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Signed 1963 Christmas Gift Print to Cousin Ann Gargan - Prepared Before the Assassination Color 6 x 4.75 print of "Mill's Colossal Equestrian Stature of General Andrew Jackson, Dedicated to the American Army and the People of the United States," matted to an overall size of 11 x 9.5, signed and inscribed on the mat in blue ballpoint to Ann Gargan, "For Ann—with love from Jackie, Christmas 1963," and "John Kennedy." Framed to an overall size of 12.25 x 11. In fine condition. Ann Gargan was JFK’s first cousin, the daughter of Rose Kennedy’s younger sister, Agnes Fitzgerald Gargan. Orphaned at a young age, Ann and her siblings remained closely connected to the Kennedy family, spending considerable time with their cousins at Hyannis Port and other family homes. She later became a devoted caretaker to her uncle, Joseph P. Kennedy, remaining at the former ambassador’s side during the years of disability that followed his 1961 stroke; through her, JFK maintained an especially personal connection to his ailing father. The inscription carries extraordinary poignancy: although intended as a Christmas 1963 gift, it must have been prepared before Kennedy’s assassination on November 22nd. What began as an intimate holiday remembrance for a beloved cousin thus became an unintended memorial to the president, linking the Kennedy family’s final Christmas before Dallas with the private bonds that sustained them through tragedy.
