Woodrow Wilson Typed Letter Signed on the 1912 Presidential Election: "It was pleasant to think of you when the returns came in" TLS, one page, 8 x 9.75, personal letterhead, November 9, 1912. Letter to F. L. Seely, in full: "You are truly generous, Your telegram offering assistance to the National Committee is greatly appreciated. Throughout you have been more than a friend, and I am sure that you know how I feel about it. It was pleasant to think of you when the returns came in." In fine condition. Written just four days after the 1912 presidential election, this letter finds Wilson savoring his decisive victory over Theodore Roosevelt and incumbent William Howard Taft. Wilson captured 435 of 531 electoral votes, and his warm thanks to Seely for supporting the Democratic National Committee reflects the gratitude of a president-elect acknowledging those who had helped carry his campaign to the White House.
